CBR Driving licence inspection
If you have been referred to the ophthalmologist by the CBR, you can make an appointment with us. Our optometrist then extensively examines your eyes, after which we digitally share the file with the remote ophthalmologist. So you do not meet the examining ophthalmologist in person, but the ophthalmologist does see your eyes from a distance.
The appointment with the optometrist for the examination
On the day of the appointment, bring your referral letter with you. Chances are, our optometrist will drip your eyes to widen the pupils. This will allow him or her to perform a full eye examination.
Your vision will be slightly impaired for a few hours. It is advisable to organise it so that you do not have to drive back yourself. Our optometrist will use sophisticated equipment to examine your eyes very extensively, collect all the necessary data and process it in a secure system.
Digital file
Immediately after the examination, our optometrist sends all entered data digitally to the ophthalmologist. In most cases, the ophthalmologist will assess your file within 3 working days and issue an advice to the CBR on your medical fitness to drive. CBR is ultimately the body that determines whether, and for how long, you may drive.
Results within a week
The inspection process for your eye examination is completely digital. This gives the ophthalmologist and the CBR quicker access to your report. CBR can therefore reach a decision on your medical fitness to drive faster. Generally, you will have a report from the CBR within a week of your visit to our optometrist, although we cannot make any firm promises about this.

Our optometrist is digitally connected to the CBR
The examination report is sent to the CBR via ZorgDomein, i.e. digitally. They will decide on your fitness to drive and then inform you of their decision.
