Hard oxygen permeable lenses

Hard oxygen permeable contact lenses no longer really feel hard, contrary to the name. This is due to the improved "comfort design" of the contact lens, which makes the lens follow the shape of the eye better and makes the contact lens float on the eye's tear fluid. To achieve this "floating effect", it is important that the contact lens fits your cornea optimally "to hundredths of millimetres". The fitting of hard oxygen permeable contact lenses is therefore truly custom-made.

Hard oxygen permeable contact lenses are ideal for correcting cylinder strengths. Nowadays, there are even multifocal hard oxygen permeable contact lenses (with distance and after-sight for the over-40s).

Due in part to their long life (± 3 years) and easy care, hard oxygen permeable contact lenses are an inexpensive way to wear lenses. Hard oxygen permeable contact lenses are available from 205 euros per pair*.

Soft contact lenses

Soft contact lenses, the name says it all, are very soft and flexible and therefore take the shape of the eye very easily. Soft contact lenses are much larger than hard oxygen-permeable contact lenses and cover the entire cornea, making them excellent for playing all kinds of sports and very easy to alternate with glasses. The material a soft contact lens is made of can be compared to a sponge where the size of the "pores" determines the degree of oxygen permeability.

lensesWhile wearing soft contact lenses, these "pores" slowly slip shut due to external influences such as dust, cosmetics and tear proteins. Daily contact lens cleaning largely restores cleanliness to the lenses, only the internal pores of the lens can only be kept clean to a limited extent , hence the need to replace the lens after a certain period of time. The more oxygen-permeable the lenses are, the larger the pores will be and thus the more likely the lenses will become clogged, which means the lenses will need to be replaced sooner, on the other hand, a lens with a higher oxygen permeability is better for the health of the eye.

The latest generation of soft contact lenses provide up to 5 x higher oxygen permeability than the already existing monthly lenses. This prevents symptoms of lack of oxygen such as: irritation, dryness, red eyes and a feeling of discomfort at the end of the day. This lens is ideal for computer users and people who spend a lot of time in air-conditioned rooms.

Night lenses
